The FP7 funded ERA-NET Sumforest has launched a call for transnational collaborative research projects. It focuses on basic and applied research to inform policy decisions and also addresses research issues spanning the whole value chain from forest management to product and service development. Proposals are expected to be transnational, and innovative forms of cooperation are encouraged. Belarus and Russia are involved as funding partners, thus the call is open to participation from Belarus and Russia. Consortia may also include partners from other non-EU countries, but they will have to cover their own expenses.
The present call for proposals focuses on basic and applied research to inform policy decisions regarding multifunctional forestry and also addresses research issues spanning the whole value chain from forest management to product and service development. Proposals are expected to be transnational, and innovative forms of cooperation are encouraged. This includes interdisciplinary research and implementation across disciplinary boundaries of forest-related sciences, delivering meaningful cooperation between biophysical/natural and social scientists.
The scientific scope of the present call for proposals addresses collaborative projects in three research areas which are incorporated into the following three topics of this call:
Proposals may cover one or several topics and focus areas.
The call invites proposals for collaborative research and development of transnational consortia of research organisations and companies from at least 3 different countries participating in the call. The duration of proposed projects may vary between 18 and 36 months. National Regulations, including the potential eligibility of the private sector, e.g. SMEs, must be followed and will be published on the 21st March 2016 on www.sumforest.org/calls-research.
A one-step application will be used in this call. Proposals (in English language) must be submitted electronically. An optional pre-registration until the 20th May 2016 is strongly recommended to ensure eligibility. Information on the Scope of the Call and the Timeline are given here:
