5th edition of Danube Academies Conference held at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova

On 7 April the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) hosted the 5th Danube Academies Conference (DAC). The event was organised by ASM in cooperation with the European Academy of Sciences and Arts from Austria. The conference was chaired by the Acting President of the ASM, Acad. Ion Tighineanu and by the President of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences in Austria, Prof. Felix Unger. It was attended by representatives of the Academies of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, and of the Joint Research Centre (Belgium), Danube Commission (Hungary) and the European Commission.

On behalf of the Republic of Moldova participated officials and representatives of the Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; Ministry of Environment; Ministry of Regional Development and Construction; Ministry of Economy; Ministry of Education; Ministry of Culture; Ministry of Youth and Sports; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure; Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, representatives of diplomatic missions of countries accredited in Moldova and Danube region, higher education institutions, research institutions, NGOs focused on environmental issues etc.

Discussions and presentations at the event focused on the issues related to environmental, sustainable energy / sustainable; quality of water resources; biodiversity and biosafety; types of landscape; flood prevention; knowledge society, research, education and IT sector; competitiveness; people and skills / abilities.
