    Overview of 'Science Policies and International Cooperation in the Eastern Neighbourhood' published by EU-STRAT project

    The EU-STRAT project has published its first working paper for 2017, titled 'Science Policies and International Cooperation in the Eastern Neighbourhood of the European Union: An Overview'. The authors Tatsiana Chulitskaya, Honorata Mazepus, Ina Ramasheuskaya and Dimiter Toshkov find that Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine have registered a considerable degree of participation in the science and research programmes of the EU, but they also identify a number of barriers and structural impediments to a more successful partnership.

    2017 'Year of Science' in Belarus: Event plans approved by Council of Ministers

    After Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree to declare 2017 the 'Belarus Year of Science' in December, now the plan for its implementation has been approved. It aims at maximum involvement of the scientific sphere, which is seen as the most important driving force of economic and social development of the country, in the work on ensuring the competitiveness of the Republic of Belarus on the world market.

    The 19th IraSME call is organised and funded by national & regional ministries & agencies participating in the IraSME network through their existing funding programmes. Therefore it is important for all candidate project partners to consult in an early stage with their respective agencies during the preparation of the proposal to secure compliance with the applicable national and regional criteria. Russia: Only small enterprises (< 100 employees) are eligible, research organisations only as subcontractors.

    In order to increase the scientific cooperation between Helmholtz Research Centres and Russian Research Institutions, the Helmholtz Association and the Russian Science Foundation announce the opening of a first call for applications for Helmholtz-RSF Joint Research Groups: It is open for applications in the two research areas 'Biomedicine' and 'Information and Data Science' from 15 December 2016 until 31 March 2017.
