EEP 2013: Conference on the 'Enhancement of European International Cooperation and Eastern Partnership in R&D&I'

This high ranking conference under the aegis of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union took place in Vilnius on 30 September and 1 October 2013. It brought together policy makers, research community representatives from the Eastern Partnership countries and EU Member States, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
The conference addressed issues related to the EU’s Eastern Partnership policies, R&D&I with emphasis on Horizon 2020 and good practices but also weaknesses that require further joint EU-EaP efforts. The participants adopted a Declaration 'Towards a Common Knowledge and Innovation Space between the EU and Eastern Partnership Countries'.

Among the participants was the Scientific Coordinator of the new 'IncoNet EaP' project (STI International Cooperation Network for Eastern Partnership Countries), Dr. George Bonas, who used the plenary to present a series of cooperation opportunities between EU and EaP countries and to explain, how the IncoNet EaP project intends to address them.

'IncoNet EaP' and its sister project 'IncoNet CA' (STI International Cooperation Network for Central Asia) have recently taken over from their predecessor projects IncoNet EECA and IncoNet CA/SC and will – among many other activities – also run the incrEAST web portal from now on.
