Following a contact workshop between UK and Kazakhstani scientists held at Nazarbayev University in Astana in April 2013, the British Council has awarded exploratory research grants to Brunel University, Aston University, the University of Aberdeen and London South Bank University. The grants will fund the exchange of visits between UK scientists and their Kazakhstani counterparts to identify concrete areas for bilateral research collaboration, in priority areas identified by the Government of Kazakhstan such as energy, the processing of raw materials and ICT technologies.
The Kazakhstani institutions involved are Nazarbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakh-British Technical University, Kanysh Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University, the Eurasian National University and S. Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University.
The British Council’s programme is supported by the Science Committee and the National Centre for Scientific Technical Evaluation, both under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The programme has been active since 2008.Source: British Council Kazakhstan
